Map of Consciousness: Vibration of Apathy
In this series we delve deeper into David R. Hawkins Map of Consciousness. My intention is to assist readers in discovering their baseline vibration (where they are now), where they are headed next, and even celebrate with them as they move from one level to the next.
Level of Consciousness: Apathy
Frequency: 50 Hertz
Definition:
I personally find the Cambridge definition of apathy better than others. Apathy is “behavior that shows no interest or energy and shows that someone is unwilling to take action, especially over something important.” It’s kind of like a person who knows that the train is coming, but they just can’t seem to take action and get out of the way.
The Life Experience of Apathy:
According to researcher and spiritualist, David R. Hawkins, those who are chained to the vibration of apathy hold a life view that reflects hopelessness and emotions of despair. Their view of God is similarly poised as condemning. This combination of perspective and emotion (energy in motion) leads the individual to live in abdication, where they just don’t act or see opportunities to act. The future looks bleak and they depend on the care of others to lift them. They are blind to their own accountability in how they got there.
After working nearly 2 years of living in the chaos of 80-hour work weeks and evolving leadership and strategies during the pandemic,I found myself completely burned out with absolutely nothing left to give. That’s when I decided to leave the corporate world and enter into the world of the energy practitioner. One of the blessings of the burn-out is that it has created an opportunity for me to see my own progression through the levels of consciousness. It’s clear to me that when I allowed myself to burn-out, I entered into the vibration of apathy.
It took several months before I could even think of doing something productive again. I shirked financial responsibility and spent lots of money, traveled, and binged Netflix or anything that allowed me to walk around unconsciously. I started Amazon Flex driving to supplement my income, then one day I realized that was all I did and in fact I was now an Amazon driver. It became a crutch that allowed me to turn off consciousness and binge podcasts. At one point I had to stop Amazon driving because I became bed-ridden as my body lost the ability to walk, injured my back, and even got a random cat bite leading to some crazy arse infection. The medication, while kept me alive, further contributed to the chain reaction of more health issues like weight gain. The thing is, chronic health issues like the ones I experienced are normal for those living in the vibration of apathy. I was the poster child of living in the consciousness of apathy.
Are You Living in the Apathy Vibration? 5 Questions to Ask Yourself
Here are some questions you can ask to gauge whether or not you might be stuck in the vibration of apathy.
Have you lost interest in activities you used to enjoy?
Are you keeping yourself constantly distracted by binging shows, podcasts or books?
Have you stopped hanging out with friends or loved ones?
When you are with others, are you complaining about how you just can’t seem to do anything productive?
Do you feel hopelessness more often than hopefulness?
5 Ways to Pull out of Apathy
The good news is that there are ways to pull yourself out of apathy. Here are a few things that I did.
Anchor into something positive and trust you will shift your perspective. I realized whatever I was doing wasn't working. So I latched on to Deepak Chopra’s 7 Spiritual Laws of Success. Instead of watching Netflix or listening to true crime podcasts I started listening to the 7 Spiritual Laws of Success. Eventually I chose to meditate on one spiritual law per day. Then after that I started studying each of the laws. I anchored into a high vibration book of truth and through it, I was able to start pulling myself out of apathy.
Use words of increase. This came clear to me when an old friend re-entered my life. I noticed, however, that I felt worse after they left. I also noticed that I found I didn’t want to be around this person anymore. It finally dawned on me that she was using a similar language as me. We were spiraling down together. That’s when I started becoming conscious of how my words impact my vibration.
Identify people or role models in your life that you admire and list (either in your mind or on paper depending on your motivation level) the attributes each of these individuals have. Just as there are shadows, there is also light in our life. Whenever we see something we appreciate in another person, we actually see traits that we have in ourselves. Anchor in these attributes and allow this concept to take root.
