Map of Consciousness: Vibration of Desire
In this series we delve deeper into David R. Hawkins Map of Consciousness. My intention is to assist readers in discovering their baseline vibration (where they are now), where they are headed next, and even celebrate with them as they move from one level to the next.
Level of Consciousness: Desire
Frequency: 125 Hertz
Definition: Being motivated by external rewards such as fame, fortune or power.
The Life Experience of Desire:
An individual living from a place of desire experiences the world from the perspective that it is ultimately disappointing and that God is actively denying and getting in the way of their reaching their goals. The motivation for external affirmation is so powerful that it becomes an addiction. The desire for power, fame, fortune, beauty, and other status symbols are so strong that they are willing to sacrifice their own happiness to get it. They live by the creed, “I’ll be happy when…” These individuals are enslaved by the quest for external validation in the form of status symbols. However, there is so much more energy here than the other lower states of consciousness that it can actually be a springboard into higher states of consciousness. That, my friends, is something to celebrate.
For me the vibration of desire showed up in a big way, and in fact a physical representation is actually in my livingroom. Every December I take on a DIY project and last year, I went BIG. Why the hell did I do that? Because I was seeking status symbols. My sister assisted me in building an electric fireplace entertainment wall. It's absolutely gorgeous and I love it. What’s wrong with that? Nothing, except for the fact I went WAY over budget. It was pretty ridiculous. Since I built it I’ve enjoyed beautiful evenings and mornings in front of the fireplace asking, “What the heck was really driving me to create this beautiful wall!?!” I came to realize it was my ego and my desire to receive validation from others. Now that was an expensive lesson! (Good thing I like it so much. ;) )
Are You Living in the Desire Vibration? 10 Questions to Ask Yourself
Are you living in the vibration of desire (or materialism)? Here are a few questions to ask yourself.
Look around at your surroundings– your house, car and clothes. Do they represent status symbols for you?
Do you feel that the appearance of your child or children is a direct reflection of you?
Do you find yourself often wondering what other people are thinking about you?
Do you live beyond your means or find that you spend more than what serves you?
Would you rather spend money on things over experiences?
Do you gauge your success by how much income you generate?
If you answered ‘yes’ to some of these questions you may be living in the vibration of desire.
5 Ways to Pull out of the Desire Vibration
Practice gratitude. Gratitude is the key to true abundance, not just material things. Gratitude will open your heart to create connection with friends and family around you without the dependency of a mask.
Seek out experiences instead of “stuff”. Even better, find something free or something outside of your comfort zone and invite someone to join you.
Declutter your space and surround yourself with things that actually bring you joy or positive memories. The process of going through your things is actually a meditative process where you are able to connect with the energy and the connection between you and your belongings. It can also assist you in becoming more mindful of what you bring into your space.
Spend time in service of others. Don’t just donate money, instead spend time working side by side with others you wouldn’t normally associate with. Not only does this create an opportunity to connect with others it can also build compassion, empathy and understanding.
Decrease the time spent engaged in distracting activities such as social media, binge watching shows or comparing yourself to others. Yes, self comparison is a whole thing in and of itself.
We really have the key to change things around. I heard a quote recently that’s super simple, “This is MY life.” How simple but how powerful this short statement is. We are the creators of our life and recognizing where we are on the road to consciousness and where we’re headed next can be a powerful tool and motivator to commit to yourself. If you find you are living in the vibration of desire, celebrate. You’ve got energy to work with and move and shake!
